Definitely not: Reiki is not a substitute for a doctor’s visit or medically prescribed treatment!

I have been fortunate enough to witness miraculous healings in coma patients and individuals with conditions considered “incurable,” which never fails to touch me deeply.

Just as water connects continents, Reiki connects consciousness and the heart, regardless of distance.

Attunements happen on an energetic level and are just as powerful as in-person sessions.

For many years, I have been guiding online courses with deep, touching experiences shared by my students.

The first treatment usually lasts 90 minutes, including the initial consultation and discussion. Subsequent treatment sessions can vary from 30 to 90 minutes.

How often someone comes for Reiki treatment depends on the particular blockage or stress level.

Ideally, at the beginning, you should have 3–5 treatments at relatively short intervals, depending on the type and severity of the condition.

These short intervals give your body and its self-healing abilities the necessary boost and momentum to bring your system back into balance. If you come for Reiki “only” for relaxation and prevention, I recommend a session every few weeks.

For children, elderly or seriously ill people, end-of-life care, and animals, half an hour is usually sufficient for a treatment. Otherwise, shorter sessions of around 30 minutes should generally be seen as a compromise when more time simply isn’t available. This is discussed on a case-by-case basis and adapted to the individual situation.

I have also experienced spontaneous healings, but most of the time, the release of blockages or a noticeable change occurs after a few sessions. Ideally, you would receive Reiki every day, but unfortunately, this is rarely practical. Therefore, when there are blockages, I recommend having a session once a week at the beginning, if possible.

The duration of the Reiki therapy is discussed and explained together during the appointment.

It is important that YOU always decide how often you would like to come, and that I simply offer you suggestions and inspiration.

You can never receive too much Reiki, and if you learn Reiki yourself, you will treat yourself at least daily for 21 days after the course. Even afterwards, it would be beneficial to receive Reiki as often as possible.

You can compare it to recharging in nature. There is no such thing as too much when it comes to receiving the healing energy of nature.

And Reiki is 100% natural and energy.

As you may already know from homeopathy, acupuncture, or naturopathy, Reiki can also cause what is known as an “initial aggravation” of symptoms after the first treatment (as can occur after Reiki attunements during Reiki courses). These symptoms should subside again after about a day.

During the body’s cleansing process following a Reiki treatment, increased sweating, diarrhea, frequent urination, or increased tiredness may occur.

In most cases, the reaction manifests itself where your blockage is or was.

These reactions are normal and even POSITIVE. They indicate that your body is mobilizing its self-healing abilities and initiating the healing process.

It is therefore very important to ensure adequate and sensible fluid intake so that all waste products and toxins can be flushed out.

When Reiki flows, it flows “wisely.” It is an intelligent and loving energy that always finds its way to wherever it is most urgently needed. This is why it is also so important to gradually learn to trust your own intuition. Our intuition goes far beyond our limited intellect and is, so to speak, the source of our wisdom. When we learn to trust our “gut feeling,” we also always know what is good and what is bad for ourselves and others. Act through letting go!

Reiki works as naturally and effortlessly as our body functions day in and day out. However, one should certainly have respect and reverence for Reiki energy and never impose a Reiki treatment on someone purely out of selfishness or try to force them into anything. This also applies to distance treatments, which can be used from the second level of Reiki attunement onwards.

Everyone has the right to decide for themselves whether and when they want to receive Reiki, and we must respect that, regardless of whether we consider their decision right or wrong.

Reiki energy is non-judgmental and free of dogma, and this is something I, too, fully embrace.

For an optimal experience during the training, I recommend a healthy, fresh, and balanced diet, as well as being mindful of your use of alcohol, nicotine, drugs, coffee, and other stimulating or physically burdensome substances. Decaffeinated coffee is generally fine.

The reason is that such influences can affect our perception, concentration, sensitivity, as well as our physical and energetic well-being.

The clearer and more balanced the body and mind are, the easier it is to consciously perceive the energies and training content and to have your own experiences without external influences distorting them.

Caffeine can affect the body even in small amounts.

It affects the nervous system, increases alertness, and can constrict blood vessels as well as alter heart rate and blood pressure.

Even a single cup of coffee can be noticeable in sensitive individuals. At the same time, abruptly stopping caffeine after regular coffee consumption can lead to headaches, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, or restlessness, as the blood vessels dilate again and the body adjusts.

I therefore recommend consciously avoiding coffee and other caffeinated beverages for several days before the training begins, or gradually reducing your intake. This allows the body to adjust and helps you experience the training as calmly as possible, without withdrawal symptoms.

This is not about rules, deprivation, or perfection. Rather, these recommendations are intended to support the clearest, most stable, and most finely balanced physical and energetic state possible, so that you can better open yourself to your own perception, your vibration and frequency, and the content of the training.

This creates the best possible conditions for your learning success, personal development, and deeper experiences during the training.

Yes. The EMR quality label is the seal of quality awarded by the Empirical Medicine Register (ErfahrungsMedizinisches Register). Practitioners who offer treatment methods such as naturopathy, craniosacral therapy, or art therapy can have their qualifications assessed and certified by the EMR. The EMR quality label has been recognized throughout Switzerland for 20 years and helps anyone interested in complementary and empirical medicine find their way through the field.

Aspiring therapists can accumulate training hours from my Reiki courses in order to become registered with the EMR themselves. They need approximately 200 hours of continuing education per year to remain registered with the EMR.

With over 20 years of experience in Reiki, my training in England and Switzerland, and my teaching of Japanese/Tibetan Reiki according to its origins and traditions, complemented by further training and experience (see here) spanning more than 30 years, I am able to provide my students with in-depth and comprehensive knowledge of Reiki.

I was exceptionally fortunate to learn from Sharon, who worked with Frank Arjava Petter and William Lee Rand.

In the past, a Reiki course generally lasted two days. Nowadays, this is no longer necessary, as information about the history of Reiki, the workings of chakras and the aura, etc., is readily available in books and online.
